Some people do not use, or poorly, the condom. Are you a person at risk?

For many people, the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remains a concern less important than the prevention of unwanted pregnancy. Condoms remain the best way yet of contraception when sexually active, protect HIV / AIDS and other STIs. What is there to know about condoms and STI prevention?

Safe use of condoms

A condom must be of good quality (condoms are not fanciful always). If it is a model without “reservoir” for semen collection, plan to provide space to avoid breakage. Must unpack so as not to damage, and discard if expired. Some models of ecological condoms do not protect HIV / AIDS. In the case of herpes, condoms may not be enough, especially when not cover all lesions. In this regard, female condoms are covering. Couples who adopted condom use at the beginning of their relationship eventually abandoned when it becomes more stable. We consider a person who loves us we would never voluntarily put in danger. However, many HIV or other STIs may be asymptomatic, and be unaware of their condition. It is therefore in good faith they claim to not be at risk. There are of course particularly unfortunate cases of people infected and knowing who neglect to inform their partner, or people who commit infidelities and do not protect themselves. We must be aware that if a person suffering from an STI early relationship, the disease will not disappear like magic because it is in a stable relationship.

Just once

Anyone who has had unprotected sex, even once in his life has some risk of having an STI that will perhaps take years to manifest itself in some cases. In the case of HIV / AIDS or hepatitis A, B or C, a single infected syringe sharing (or a wound with a syringe) can spread the disease. There are several tests for STIs, but the results are only valid if you use a condom during the maximum period that takes the disease to be detected. In the case of HIV / AIDS, it can take up to 6 months. Do not wait for symptoms to pass a test because some STIs do not cause symptoms, which does not reduce the risk of sequel.

STI exponential

Should not underestimate the risks of unprotected sex, because there is not the current partner who may be involved. There are also all partners with whom that person has had unprotected sex with partners who they have had unprotected sex, etc. Ultimately, it’s like having sex with hundreds of people. This is not because we feel that they can trust a partner that can do the same with all his former partners. It goes without saying that a person who received a positive diagnosis of an STI should be honest, even if it is not an easy thing, to inform, where possible, all potential sexual partners infected.

Diseases do not discriminate

We must remove the head as STIs concern only certain categories of people such as homosexuals, drug addicts or persons with multiple partners (even if the risks necessarily increase with the number of shared needles or sexual partner). It only takes a single sexual encounter for STIs. STIs are found among people of all ages, from all backgrounds and sexual orientations. An infected person may very well show an air of radiant health. Do not be afraid to look too suspicious or offensive in the eyes of his partner requiring condom. This should be seen as a responsible act in the context of a sex life.
